Going to Disney World should be a very exciting and fun time for you and your family. As a person who has taken over twenty five trips there, there is always something new and always favorite rides and attractions that are must sees. But remember that this trip is a VACATION. Vacation means a time to rest, relax and have a good time for ALL members of your family both big and small. Too many guide books and websites blather on and on like you are supposed to wake up by 6am and attack as many things as you can as quick as you can with no regard for relaxing and resting and soaking in some atmosphere. Sure, you need to plan some for your trip to this mammoth complex. But don't drive yourself crazy and get caught up in the minutae of details , planning for every minute and sucking the FUN out of your expensive trip to this great escape called Disneyworld. We are gonna try and give some anti tips for you to keep your sanity and not need another vacation after this vacation.
First off, when booking a place to stay at the DW , there are a couple of things to consider. How many are in your group or family, what are there eating habits and what do they expect from a vacation.
Nothing sucks more than to have a General with an itinerary and a whistle on one side and other folks who are floaters and go at their own pace. Or roller coaster fanatics with older kids going with a family with young kids who want its a small world over and over. So, we must state intentions of all trip goers and then adjust, accomadate, and compromise before you are standing in front of Splash Mountain and half the party has no interest. Are there swimmers or lay by the pool and tan people with a margarita, pina colada, you get the picture.
Questions to ask:Do you need a place to stay that is quiet or do you want hustle, bustle. Do you want fine dining and restaurant/lounge options or is a food court your bag. Are you on a semi budget and maybe you want a kitchen in where you stay. If booking on DW property ask about any groups that may be staying in your hotel. Two or three high school teams or bands may make just a little ruckus or lot in the evening and the pools may be hopping, especially if you dont want them too.
Why should eating habits play a roll.
If you are on a semi budget a place like a condo or suites with kitchens may be a good call on your part. Most have a living room(or gathering place at end of day to kick back relax and relive the day or gane plan next day), full kitchen, laundry and multiple bedrooms. It may cost a little more per night but the savings on breakfast alone if you eat in your room will more than make up for it.
Also, having a full fridge at your disposal is well worth it.Especially with kids-snacks,cereal,drinks,sandwiches,etc can be a real savings. Walmarts are available around the country-even in Orlando. Fussy eaters also love the opportunity to eat what they like which is why they are fussy eaters in the first place hence the name fussy eater.
Kamakazi travelers who are on a mission to see all they can see may just want a food court, a bed, a pool for late nite and a cooler to place beverages of all kinds cuz they will be moving from am to pm.
A Floater may just want to sit in a restaurant and be catered too each evening while sipping wine and watching the crazy kamikazis fly by. Thats cool but make sure we are all on the same page before we leave. Thats it for today.
